Episode 26: Gene Higa

I like to affectionately refer to Gene Higa as the Indiana Jones of wedding photography. It seems like every other month he’s in a different country shooting an amazing wedding. From Bali to Greece to India to Mexico. He’s seen it all. Gene shares with us how he got started into wedding photojournalism and his slow re-branding to become a fashion photographer. We hear what’s up with him and his studio partner Ann Hamilton, and he does something he’s never done publicly: share his thoughts and feelings on the death of his sister. I am very appreciative of Gene willing to share this very private topic, and I hope what he shares will be a healing to some of you out there. From branding to Buddhism, this is Gene Higa: uncensored. This is one for the record books!

Next week, I interview another one of my filmmaking colleagues, David Robin, event filmmaker of the Oscar’s Governor’s Ball.
