Episode 67: Curt Apanovich

For almost fifteen years, Curt Apanovich has led a very successful video production career. What started out as a  pro audio business grew into a major production house with such heavy hitter clients as Disney, NBC, and Warner Bros. to name a few. But about four years ago, Curt’s passion for still photography lead him to get into it as a pro. How fortunate for him, that the other tenant in the building where his studio was located was none other than celebrity photographer Robert Evans. The two became friends and Curt became a “mentee.”  In this episode of the show, Curt (who was my co-producer on “The Longest Day”) talks about the evolution of his career, what it’s like working with Robert, the origin of their venture PhotographyMentor.com, and we get into a very thought-provoking conversation about the “fusion” of video and still photography. Is it just hype? How will it effect the photography and videography industries? Who (if anyone) should be worried? This is a must-listen interview for photographers and video producers alike.

Today’s musical outro is, appropriately, “Ready” by Will Thomas, courtesy of Triple Scoop Music.

Next week, we chat with Trevor Brucki of Winnipeg, Canada.
